由郭敬明根据自己的同名小说改编的（adaptation based on the novel of the same title）电影《小时代》（电影海报上的英文名为Tiny Times，但是此译让人很难理解到底是什么意思。网上解释“小时代”有两个说法，一是“比大时代好的年代”，二是“小时候单纯的年代”，可是tiny times无法表示出这样的含义）第一、二部是2013年夏季很火的两部影片（a hit movie），从票房收入（box office income）看，第一部已达5亿元，第二部上映第一周4天就吸金（take in）1.6亿元，称得上是国产大片（homegrown blockbuster）了。

电影描述了现代上海青年人的生活，讲述4名对男孩着迷(boy-crazed)、爱逛商场（mall-loitering)的女大学生的感情生活和职场抱负（navigate romance and their professional aspirations）。她们从头到脚穿着名牌时装（draped from head to toe in designer clothes），看起来像随时准备去走戛纳红毯（ready to walk on the red carpet at the Cannes International Film Festival）的样子，但是浅薄、乏味、崇拜坏男人（shallow, vapid, and beholden to bad men），动不动就为相貌出众的男性神魂颠倒（easily mesmerized by visually stunning males），电影里的男性一个个身材纤细、五官精致而带有女人气（with compact frames, exquisite facial contours and of androgynous demeanor），仿佛会青春永驻（look of perpetual youth）。

有人说，从电影里看到的简直是一派“礼崩乐坏”（with all courtesy and rites of society ruined）的景象，也有人批评该影片一点也不接地气（down to earth，意思是far away from reality）。 据《环球时报》
